The higher prices usually indicate the producer has worked with some big names and you would hope they will be able to make you sound like these artists, but this isn't always the case. At Beat Tank Melbourne, we throw the producer role in for free when you hire the recording studio.

The best way to find the right producer for your style of music and budget, is to find some similar music to yours on Spotify that was producer locally and find out who the producer was. If your budget is small, just try and find a recording studio that has an engineer that also produces.

Top producers who have worked with award winning artists will charge around $200 to $400 per hour or up to $30,000 per song. If you have a smaller budget, you can find some great producers that work out of their studios and will not charge you more per hour than the cost of hiring the studio. They know how to make the vocal feel relaxed in the vocal booth while performing and makes sure that all the takes and harmonies are recorded correctly to enable a great take once compiled and mixed.

For an inexperienced mix engineer you probably will only have to pay around $100 a song. But don't expect it to sound like the songs you hear on the radio! However if you pay $500 to $1000 per song you can get song top shelf mix engineers that have probably mixed some of the artists you love and will have access to some amazing equipment. Some studios are happy for you to come in for the mix sessions so you are only paying an hourly fee. $80 to $150 per hour will get you a top notch mix engineer who will make your song sound amazing.
